It's Evolution, Baby!

So it’s been awhile since my last blog post. Almost 2 months. While I try my best to keep my blog regularly updated every month, I suppose writer’s fatigue is inevitable at some point. And for me it came this year. It’s also not coincidental that this block came at the same time as a major life event happened for me last month as well, which was the birth of my second child. And as anyone who’s had kids can attest to, with all the excitement and fanfare of having a new baby also comes endless sleepless nights and poopy diapers. Given that, it seemed like the perfect moment to step back and take a quick break from the storytelling.

Anyway, while I definitely have not run out of toys to talk about, lately it felt that I was just going through the motions of just keeping the blog updated. And after 7 years or so (wow has it really been that long?), lately it’s been feeling a little monotonous.

When I first started this blog, I really envisioned it to be a blog about my stories about toys from my toyshelf. But now I feel the time is right for the site to grow and evolve into something more. For many collectors like myself, one of the most positive aspects of the hobby has always been the community, that is interacting and meeting new friends who share the same love and passion for toys. And looking back, I have met and reconnected with a lot of old and new friends through toy collecting, and I feel it’s the right time to bring all that into the blog.

So what am I getting at? While I still do plan to keep actively writing for the site, I feel the time is right to invite other fellow collectors to share their own stories from their toy shelves. Not only will this hopefully increase the frequency of updates to the page, but it will also give the page a richer variety of content being produced. Fresh stories from different people can only be a good thing. Let’s face it, I can’t collect everything, and specific toys may mean something different for other people. And this time, I’d love to hear about it. I’d love to hear everyone else's stories :)

So how’s this going to go? Well I’ve already directly contacted friends and asked them to contribute and so far, I’ve been getting positive responses from them :) Hopefully I should have my first contributor before the end of the month. But even if you don’t know me personally but have a story to tell, I’d love to hear about it! Please feel free to hit me up.
