Veni Vidi Vici

The Story of Serpentor — the Cobra Emperor who was part genius marketing stunt, part mad science experiment, and 100% pure 80s chaos.

In this episode, I’m diving into the wild creation of Serpentor in GI Joe, Hasbro’s golden-armored clone commander built from the DNA milkshake of history’s greatest conquerors — and a heavy dose of marketing ambition. From Julius Caesar to Genghis Khan, and from toy shelves to TV screens, I’ll explore how Serpentor, the “perfect leader” rose to challenge Cobra Commander himself. And how Serpentor became one of the most unforgettable — and divisive — characters in the entire G.I. Joe universe. So buckle up, because this is the tale of a Cobra Emperor who might’ve just gone a little too far… THIS I COMMAND!

Some General Information

The Story of Hawk, The Most Overlooked Leader Of GI Joe.

He didn’t have Duke’s spotlight or Flint’s swagger, and his first figure wasn’t even sold on a cardback—Hawk was just a “Missile Commander” packed in with the rather unexciting Mobile Missile System. But while Hasbro seemed to bury him, the comics put him front and center, leaping off the MOBAT on the cover of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #1 and leading the Original GI Joe team into battle. Over the years, though, Hawk’s role kept shifting. In the Sunbow cartoon, he was initially benched; in the comics, he survived assassination attempts, and eventually reemerged as a pragmatic and secretive general willing to make the toughest calls. From bright-eyed idealist to battle-hardened realist, Hawk GI Joe may just be the most overlooked—and underrated—leader the franchise ever had.

Oktoberfest

The Story of the Oktober Guard – G.I. Joe’s Soviet counterpart you might have forgotten.

The GI Joe Oktober Guard (aka October Guard) were more than just “the other guys” in the fight against Cobra—they were the Soviet Union’s answer to America’s elite fighting force. From their Cold War roots in the comics to their surprising roles as both rivals and allies of the Joes, this video dives into their history, their toy incarnations, and why they’ve most likely endured as fan favorites. Whether you knew them as G.I. Joe’s “forgotten rivals” or the coolest Soviet soldiers in action figure form, I believe the Oktober Guard has a story worth telling.
